Honoree: The 452nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery was an all-African-American anti-aircraft artillery unit of the United States Army during WWII. It comprised approximately 1,000 soldiers. The unit was credited with having shot down 88 German warplanes which is the highest number of such kills credited to an all-African-American unit during the war.
