Honoree: John Sineno (1930-2003) joined the NYFD in 1962. He was assigned to Engine 58 in Harlem, where his skills in the kitchen were quickly harnessed. In 1972, along with Joe Hickey and Jack Mera, he helped establish the New York Hospital – New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation. He was the author of two best-selling cookbooks whose proceeds went to the Burn Center and other charitable causes.
