For over 40 years, she was a community activist and parent leader in the Rockaways. She was elected to the Community School Board, was a member of the NAACP, a founder of the New Democratic Coalition, and a member of the Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation. LL:2006/13 Jack Maple Place (Queens) Present name:None Location:At the intersection of 108th Street and Park Lane South Honoree: Jack Maple 1952-2001) was the NYPD's Deputy Commissioner for Crime Control Strategies in the mid-1990s. He is best known for his creation of COMPSTAT, a method of employing statistical data to track, identify and pinpoint priorities for the deployment of law-enforcement resources. It brought innovation, accountability and new crime fighting techniques to the New York Police Department and has been adopted by police departments across America. He was one of the great innovators in law enforcement who helped to make New York City the safest large city in America.
