Honoree:  Jay Kriegel (1940-2019) was Senior Advisor for the Related Companies, developer of Hudson Yards, the largest project in NYC history. Serving as Chief of Staff to New York City Mayor John V. Lindsay from 1966 to 1973, Kriegel's efforts included creating the first Civilian Complaint Review Board and liaison to the historic Kerner Commission Report on urban disorders. He later led the city's campaign to save the deductibility of state and local taxes against attack by President Reagan in the 1986 Tax Reform Act. He served as President of New York City's bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games; he co-founded The American Lawyer magazine; advised governments, including the Prime Minister of Turkey and the President of Kazakhstan; and, as Senior Vice President at CBS, conceived of Retransmission Consent, enacted in 1994 which provides broadcasters with a new revenue stream of payments from cable companies. In non-profit activities, he merged two distressed Brooklyn hospitals in 1982 to create Interfaith Medical Center, and served on the boards of Prep for Prep, New Visions for Public Schools, and The After School Corporation (TASC), the Steering Committee of ABNY, NYU's Center for Global Affairs, and the Kent Land Trust.
