BryantBishop Roy Bryant Sr. DD Way (Bronx) Present name:None Location:At the intersection of Morris Avenue and 169th Street Honoree: Bishop Roy Bryant, Sr., D.D. (1923-2020) joined the ministry in 1957 and started a church in his home. It later expanded to five churches, two located on Morris Avenue in the Bronx. Under his leadership, The Bible Church of Christ helped to revitalize an impoverished community. The Bible Church of Christ Theological Institute was established to further spiritual knowledge, provide continuing education, and adult literacy as well as a GED program. In addition to educational programs, a food pantry, clothing distribution and after-school programs for children were also instituted. On the first Sunday of January 1960, he received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. Thereafter, Bishop Roy Bryant, Sr. began to preach Christ. By 1966, Pastor Bryant was ordained a Bishop. He was the Founder, Pastor and Bishop of The Bible Church of Christ, Inc. Subsequently he had churches in the United States and abroad. The Allan Memorial Institute, a Christian School in Liberia, West Africa was established in honor of Bishop and Mother Sissieretta Bryant's son Allan. The school has approximately 450 students from Kindergarten to 9th grade. Recently incorporated into The Bible Church of Christ ministry are seven churches in Myanmar (Burma). Bishop Bryant was the author of three books on Demonology and also taught Demonology at The Bible Church of Christ Theological Institute. (Gibson) LL:2022/54 |
