Honoree: Andy King (dates?) served in the Korean War for three years and later founded the King 5 basketball team organization in the early 1970’s. The organization assisted in getting the neighborhood youth off the streets and provided youths with recreational activity and cultivated leadership skills. He financed trips outside of the Bronx for the participants to meet professional basketball players and participate in basketball championship tournaments across the city and Westchester County. Kings 5 included more than 10,000 youths, ages 8 to 40 and has been the longest running basketball program to exist in the northeast Bronx. (Johnson)

Honoree: Jack King (d. 2009) coached his son’s CYO team at St. Francis de Sales, and helped the parish build a successful baseball program. As president of the 100th Precinct Community Council, he created a network of activism across the precinct and peninsula.
