Honoree: Paula Frassinetti (1809-1882), born in Genoa, founded the Congregation of Saint Dorothy in Italy in 1834. The Sisters of St. Dorothy were noted for their work with the sick in the cholera epidemic that ravaged northern Italy in 1835. In 1913, the Academy of St. Dorothy was opened on Hylan Boulevard. Paula Frassinetti was canonized in 1984 by Pope John Paul II.
