Honoree: Christine Zounek (1957-2014) was a long-time resident of Milton Street. In 2008, she became the first volunteer at the Greenpoint Reformed Church Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen at 136 Milton Street, and quickly became the Head Chef. The food pantry and soup kitchen is a critical part of the Greenpoint community. It is estimated that over five years, Christine helped prepare over 17,500 meals. She is fondly remembered for not only cooking nutritious food, but also food that was delicious, including Eastern European recipes that were greatly appreciated by the community who relied on the soup kitchen.
