PompaVincent C. Pompa Way (Staten Island) Present name:None Location:At the northwest corner of Maple Parkway and Forest Avenue Honoree: As president of Mariners Harbor Civic Association for 11 years, Vincent C. Pompa fought for improvements such as local traffic rerouting, new parks, a relocated US Post Office and a new library branch. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was later a chemist for the Carter Wallace Company until his retirement in 1992. He He founded and was the president of the board of directors of Beacon Christian Community Health Center, president of Mariners Harbor AARP, and an active member of Community Board 1. He also served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Clement/ St. Michael R.C. Parish and Chaplain of the Five Star Post of the American Legion, which he belonged to for 47 years.
