Honoree: Bartolomeo Giove (1954-2019) was born in Italy. After coming to America, he and his two brothers worked as landscapers during the day and at a pizzeria at night. A few years later, he and his brothers opened the first Brother’s Pizza. They created job opportunities for the Port Richmond community and also contributed to various charity events, schools and fundraisers. Among the organizations they supported were Project Hospitality, the Detective Salvatore J. Cafiso Foundation, and Hurricane Sandy relief organizations. He was awarded the “Gold Broom Award” for his active role in cleaning up litter in his community. The Deborah Heart and Lung Association honored him as “Man of the Year” for his charitable work. Honoree: Boimah Cooper (1999-2006) was discovered by a group from the Staten Island Liberian Community Association (SILCA) during a Humanitarian Relief Mission. He was found under a tree crying and unable to walk with bones bulging from his back. The group brought him to America for spinal reconstructive surgery. During his year in the U.S., he attended PS 57 and basically adopted the children as his extended family.

He taught history, math and religion while continuing his involvement with track.
