AmericanAmerican Veterans Memorial Pier (Brooklyn) Present name:None Location:The extension of Bay Ridge Avenue from Shore Road to the Pierhead Line Honoree: The 593-foot long 69th Street Pier, at the foot of Bay Ridge Avenue, was built in 1904 as a ferry wharf and fishing pier. During World War I and World War II, it was a military embarkation point. When the wars ended, many of the returning soldiers were welcomed home at the 69th Street Pier. LL:2001/ 60 |
