Honoree: Father Gartland (1934-1994), a Bronx native, was ordained in 1959 and assigned to Our Lady Star of the Sea on Staten Island, where he served until 1973. After serving at parishes in the Bronx and Brewster, NY, he returned to Our Lady Star of the Sea as its pastor and led the parish until 1993. In 1990 he was elected president of the Staten Island Vicarate.
