Honoree: Addison Branch, who died in 2012 at the age of 85, was an educator and administrator for the City Department of Education for more than 30 years. He was a founding member and former president of the Mud Lane Society for the Renaissance of Stapleton. The organization continues today restoring Victorian and historic homes, as well as small businesses. He was a member of the Stapleton Local Development Corporation, a life member of the NAACP, and on the board of Snug Harbor Cultural Center. (Rose)

Honoree: Floyd Branch, Jr. (d. August 2019) founded the NYC Bombsquad Basketball Classic, a non-profit league that served disadvantaged youth and aimed to keep kids in a safe environment. He founded the league in 1995 and ran the nonprofit for nearly 25 years until his death. He was a coach and mentor to thousands of youths. He served as head basketball coach of the varsity team at Rice High School for 11 years leading the team to four championship games. He also coached at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx. Honoree:  John Watusi Branch, who died December 28, 2013 at the age of 70, was the co-founder of the Afrikan Poetry Theatre in Jamaica, Queens,, a collective of poets, singers and musicians focused on jazz, funk, African rhythms and poetry. It was incorporated as a nonprofit in 1977 and expanded to offer cultural and educational tours to West Africa and a summer youth employment program. Mr. Branch was a well-known figure in the pan-African movement as well as a published poet and author of several titles, including ?A Story of Kwanza: Black/Afrikan Holy Days.? (Miller)
