Honoree:  Eleanor Dowe (1954-2021) was a tenant of NYCHA Webster Houses who went into a coma and later passed away after falling down a flight of stairs as a result of the elevators in her building not functioning properly. She had called NYCHA about the defective elevators for months before the accident occurred. Her death, on January 21, 2021has brought attention to the devastating consequences to two major flaws of NYCHA: the lack of timely repairs and the lack of sufficient housing for seniors and those with disabilities.
