Honoree:  Christopher Wallace (1972-1997), known professionally as Biggie Smalls, Biggie and the Notorious B.I.G., was one of the most influential rappers of all time. As a teenager, he made a demo tape that came to the attention of A&R executive Sean “Puffy” Combs. Combs set up his own record label called Bad Boy Records and signed Wallace. From there, he released the “Ready To Die” album which went Platinum. On March 9, 1997 Wallace was killed by an unknown gunman while leaving a party. His album “Life After Death,” released 16 days later, became one of the few hip-hop albums to be certified Diamond. (Cumbo)
