Pease, Jr. was a teacher, a former engineer and an advocate of the study of African-American history. He served in the Army Air Forces as a weather observer during WWII and was stationed for a period in Tuskegee, Alabama. He was the first African-American president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
