Present name:None
Location:At the intersection of Holland Avenue and Lydig Avenue
Honoree: Joe Chiodi (1964-2020) was a pillar of the Pelham Parkway community. As a young boy, he immigrated to America from a small town outside Naples. With hard work, he was able to start his own restaurant, John & Joe’s Pizzeria, which he owned and operated for over for years. . He was more than a man behind the counter serving slices of pizza. He cared for blind members of his community, he gave free slices to children who couldn’t pay, sponsored the local little league teams, offered his spare generator to families who had children in need of medical equipment, and in times of natural disaster, was often the only shop on the block that was still open and serving the community. His most profound acts of kindness were often hidden. He rented an apartment for a single mother in need, and there was many a day when a line formed because he allowed a child to get behind the counter to help make pizza. (Gjonaj)
