GuidaEdward F. Guida Sr. Way (Queens) Present name:None Location:At the northeast corner of 104th Street and 48th Avenue Honoree: Eddie Guida, who died in 2014, was a City Marshal for 29 years. He was deeply involved in community and charitable work in Queens and beyond. His grandfather, Edward Guida Sr., had opened the Edward F. Guida Funeral Home in 1909, and it is still operated by the Guida family. Eddie Guida was active in the Corona Lions, The Latino Lawyers Association, The Italian Heritage Foundation, The American Diabetes Association, The Golden Age and the local Precinct Council. He assisted with the creation of the Queens chapter at St. Jude?s Children?s Hospital in 1991, which earned him the title of ?Man of the Year.? (Ferreras-Copeland) LL:L.L. 2016/23 |
