Honoree: Bartolomeo Giove (1954-2019) was born in Italy. After coming to America, he and his two brothers worked as landscapers during the day and at a pizzeria at night. A few years later, he and his brothers opened the first Brother’s Pizza. They created job opportunities for the Port Richmond community and also contributed to various charity events, schools and fundraisers. Among the organizations they supported were Project Hospitality, the Detective Salvatore J. Cafiso Foundation, and Hurricane Sandy relief organizations. In 2010, the pizzeria celebrated its 35th Anniversary with a three-day long celebration of discounted slices of pizza. (Rose)
